Hyo’s work results from the understanding and experimentation of materials and her celebration of the natural landscape that surrounds her in Brittany. Here Hyo explores the connecting point of simplicity of form and unpredictability of material. Through the technique of layering different glazes the artist embraces the unforeseeable visual results. The neutral hues of brown electrify the contrasting blue, creating flames that climb the sides. These organic patterns are reminiscent of an exotic feather or an iridescent insect wing.
